I test every matcha the same simple way so my reviews are fair and easy to compare.
My Test Steps (Same Every Time)
- Sift 4-5g matcha into a bowl.
- Water temp: about 160–175°F (70–80°C).
- Whisk: fast in a W/M motion for ~20 seconds until small bubbles appear.
- Taste straight (no milk).
- Latte test: add 100ml of milk and taste again.
What I Look For
- Color: Bright green = fresher; dull = older/rougher.
- Aroma: Fresh, grassy, or seaweed-like vs. flat/stale.
- Flavor: Sweetness, bitterness, and umami (savory).
- Texture: Smooth vs. gritty.
- Value: Price per gram and per serving.
Price-Per-Serving (Optional)
- Price per gram: price ÷ grams in the tin/bag.
- Price per serving: price per gram × 1g
